There couldn't be a better metaphor than what a Chinese analyst used to characterise the NATO while commenting on its secretary general Jens Stoltenberg's recent remark that the West does not seek war with Russia but should still "prepare ourselves for a confrontation that could last decades."

The Chinese commentator compared Stoltenberg to an in-charge of a firm of undertakers, "a store owner of coffin and casket, which makes no money in peacetime.

Il n'y a pas de meilleure métaphore que celle utilisée par un analyste chinois pour caractériser l'OTAN en commentant la récente remarque de son secrétaire général, Jens Stoltenberg, disant que l'Occident ne cherche pas la guerre avec la Russie, mais doit néanmoins «se préparer à une confrontation qui pourrait durer des décennies».

Le commentateur chinois a comparé Stoltenberg à un responsable d'une entreprise de pompes funèbres, «un magasin de cercueils, qui ne gagne pas d'argent en temps de paix».

The European powers have responded to Donald Trump's threats to withdraw US military protection from NATO countries that fail to spend enough on rearmament with an outpouring of veritable war hysteria. The demands range from military autonomy to the development of an independent European nuclear weapon system.

Trump stated during a campaign appearance that as president he would not assist NATO members who do not invest at least 2 percent of their gross domestic product in the military in the event of a Russian attack.
